How to use Bloomberg Connects with accessibility features
Bloomberg Connects is designed to support a range of accessibility features and alternative ways of accessing content.
Using accessibility features on your device
You can:
- Use screen readers such as VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) to navigate content
- Adjust text size and display settings through your device settings
- Use standard mobile gestures and navigation patterns supported by assistive technologies
Accessing content in different ways
Where available, you can:
- Access audio content or audio guides as an alternative to reading text
- Use captions or transcripts as an alternative to audio or video content
- Zoom into images and visual content
- Access sign language videos provided by some partner institutions
For the best experience, we recommend using the latest version of your device’s operating system.
Accessibility compliance
Bloomberg Connects aims to conform to EN 301 549 v3.2.1 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
Compliance status: Partially compliant
The core functionality of the Bloomberg Connects application substantially conforms to EN 301 549 and WCAG 2.2 Level AA.
However, some content and features, particularly multimedia and partner-provided content, do not yet fully meet accessibility requirements.
This means that while most users can access the core features of the service, some users may experience difficulties with specific content or interactions.
Known accessibility issues
We are aware of some accessibility limitations in Bloomberg Connects and are working to address them.
The most significant accessibility barriers relate to screen reader support, navigation structure, and some partner-provided content.
Screen reader and non-visual access
- Some images and visual content may not have sufficient text alternatives, which may make them difficult to understand for screen reader users
- Some interface elements may not fully communicate their purpose, role, or state to assistive technologies, which may affect navigation and interaction
- Certain updates or status messages may not be announced to screen readers, so users may not be aware of changes on screen
Low vision and text resizing
- Text resizing is supported across the app, but in some contexts (such as large headings or visually constrained layouts), scaling may be limited to preserve readability and layout
- As a result, some content may not fully adapt at larger text sizes
Interaction and input methods
- Some interactive elements may be difficult to operate using alternative input methods (such as external keyboards or assistive technologies), which may affect users who cannot rely on touch interaction
Navigation and structure
- Navigation order and structure may not always be fully optimized for assistive technologies, which may make it harder to move through content efficiently
- Some headings or structural elements may not be programmatically defined, which may affect navigation for screen reader users
Content clarity and labelling
- Some content may be missing clear labels or descriptions, which may make it harder to understand or interact with
Content variability (partner-provided content)
Accessibility may vary depending on content provided by partner institutions (see Section 7 for more information). Some content - such as images, maps, and multimedia - may not fully meet accessibility requirements, which may affect how easily it can be accessed or understood.
Summary
While most core functionality is accessible, some users may encounter barriers when using specific features or content. We are actively working to improve accessibility across the platform.
Third-party and partner content
Bloomberg Connects hosts content created and provided by partner institutions. While we provide guidance and tools to support accessible content creation, we cannot guarantee that all third-party content fully meets accessibility requirements.
We are working with partners to improve accessibility awareness and encourage best practices.
