Videos

Adding videos to your guide can help you speak directly to your visitors, share behind-the-scenes footage of your installations, and showcase your creators or staff.

To speed up your video upload process, save all files to a single folder on your desktop or shared drive. You can upload videos in bulk by dragging and dropping files from the folder directly into the grid—just remember to edit each video record to add the poster image, title, description, captions, and transcript.

Video Fields

  • Video: An MP4 file. Recommended resolution: 720p.
    • To add a poster image (the still image that appears before the video is played), click the three dots to the right of the video preview.
  • Subtitles/Caption: A VTT file. Subtitles and captions both provide synchronized text that is overlaid on a video. When the text conveys only the spoken dialogue, it’s called subtitles; when the text conveys dialogue and non-speech sounds, it’s called captions. For more, see Video Captions and Subtitles.
  • Title: The title that should appear in the video player in the app.
  • Credits: Video credits, such as producer or editor.
  • Transcript: A text version of the audio content in a video. In the video player, you can tap the Transcript button to read the transcript in a new screen in addition to or instead of listening to the video. For more, see Audio and Video Transcripts.
  • Allow Use in Bloomberg Connects Social Media: Indicate whether Bloomberg Connects can use this video on Bloomberg Connects social media channels. Posts will be shared with you for awareness before going live and will be credited, where possible, based on information provided in the CMS. For more, see Social Media.

Video Poster Image

The poster image (also known as a "video thumbnail") should hint at the content in the video to encourage visitors to watch it. The poster image is usually a representative still frame from the video. This still image appears behind the play button before a visitor starts the video.

If you do not add a poster image, in your guide, visitors will see a white rectangle with a play button.

The poster image must be uploaded on the video form; you cannot use an existing image from your CMS image library.

Adding the Poster Image

To upload a new image to use as the poster image, click the More Actions icon, then select Add Poster Image.

Video Poster Image Before

Before adding a poster image, the play button appears on a blank frame.

Video Poster Image After

After adding a poster image, the play buttons appears on an engaging preview of the video content.

Content Recommendations

  • Videos should be short (under about three minutes) for greatest appeal. Longer videos can be shared via links.
  • Videos should have captions or subtitles. Transcripts are also recommended for video, especially if your organization is using Google Translate, which can translate transcripts but not captions or subtitles.
