Social Media

Our social media channels aim to promote thumb-stopping content to drive awareness and attract new users to your digital guide. We proactively seek opportunities to highlight our partners across our four active platforms* — @bloombergconnects on Instagram, Facebook, Threads, and Pinterest.

We follow all of our partners on social media and monitor their posts to identify engagement opportunities (likes, shares, comments, etc.).

*We no longer actively post on Twitter/X

Promotion on @BloombergConnects Channels

Launch Promotion

Bloomberg Connects will announce your guide on our social channels as part of our bi-weekly New & Featured posts:

  • Threads Post: You will be included in a thread along with other organizations launching that week.
  • Instagram Story: You will get a dedicated panel in an IG Story that promotes your guide along with the other guides launching that week.

We have observed great engagement when announcing guides in this way. Being included alongside other organizations increases exposure for your organization.

Partner Approved Assets

Please turn on the Allow Use in Bloomberg Connects Social Media toggle for all approved assets. This is a crucial step so we know what is available when developing social media content.

Why is this helpful?

The more content you mark as available, the easier it is for us to highlight your organization. Having a view on what imagery is available to us makes it much easier for us to plan out our social media content calendar. As a result, we can proactively source our social media content from the approved images in the CMS.

Promoting Bloomberg Connects on Your Handles

When promoting Bloomberg Connects on your handles, keep in mind that you’re introducing users to a platform they may not be aware of.

Tips & Considerations

  • Use your brand voice in the social copy. If you aren’t sure what tone to adopt, speak like an insider with access to the best of your museum or institution thanks to the app.
  • Consider teasing information in your posts and then point back to the app to learn the full story using links to your dedicated Bloomberg Connects landing page or bloombergconnects.org.
  • Include a call to action (CTA) like “find out more” to lead users to your guide.
  • Go with what works for you—if there are things you do that are successful on your channels, don’t feel the need to reinvent the wheel.

Suggested Images

  • Screenshots of your guide, ideally mocked-up on a phone (Bloomberg Connects design team can provide)
  • Artwork, artifacts, or other interesting items featured in your guide
  • Video introduction showcasing the app and your guide

Example: Andy Warhol Museum

Suggested Post Cadence

  • Post 1: Introduce your guide and Bloomberg Connects
  • Post 2: Highlight galleries/content featured (eg. use Connects in our x,y,z gallery/exhibition)
  • Post 3: Share fun facts about the artwork/artifacts found on the app

Engage With Us!

As you build out your social media plans and posts, here are a few tips to ensure we are able to maximize exposure of your content:

  • Link to your dedicated Bloomberg Connects landing page
  • Tag @BloombergConnects (Instagram, Facebook, and Threads)
  • Add #BloombergConnects when relevant. For Instagram please also tag us (and the artist, as applicable) in photos.

Do not create new hashtags related to Bloomberg Connects without our team’s awareness and approval. To discuss a new hashtag, reach out to marketing@bloombergconnects.org.

Collaborative Posts (Instagram)

Collaborative posting is a feature on Instagram where two (or more) accounts own the post, so it is shared with all of their audiences. For all collaborative posts, we ask our partner team to take the lead on providing the asset, copy, and posting.

Examples

Collaboration Post with Portland Japanese Garden

To Request a Collab Post:

  • Step 1: Plan in advance. The social team plans out our content calendar a month in advance, so we prefer if requests were made at least 2-3 weeks in advance.
  • Step 2: Reach out to marketing@bloombergconnects.org to request a collaboration post.
  • Step 3: We like to align on the creative and copy, so we ask all partners to share their asset(s) & copy before accepting any collaboration. Tips:
    • Suggested content must be featured on the app
    • This post will live on both of our channels, so ensure your copy is accessible to both audiences.
  • Step 4: Bloomberg Connects boosts all collab posts (adds paid promotion)

We do not take requests from partners to post their content on our accounts or create collab posts to announce the launch of their guide, as we handle the creative selection for all other organic posts internally.

Additional Learnings & Resources

Since launching our social media channels, we have identified key takeaways based on performance and engagement:

  • High-quality images and short video content (<60 sec) perform best overall. Minimize the use of graphic overlays.
  • Heavily-branded posts or posts specifically promoting the app tend to have lower engagement rates – People prefer to see original content from partner guides!
  • Launch posts are among the top-performing posts across all platforms and perform best when highlighting specific pieces of guide content.
  • Our followers love interesting, impactful stories and fun facts. They want to know more about the art and artifacts we’re sharing.
  • Content created around trending conversations/“hashtag holidays” receive solid engagement and present opportunities to breathe new life into existing content. (eg. "National Hat Day", “Love Your Pet Day”)
  • Memes! Everyone loves them, including our followers.
  • Continuing to create and test new types of content is key to staying relevant. We’re always open to new ideas.
  • Some tools we recommend:
    • CapCut - Video editing software
    • Canva - Image & video editing software
