The Difference Between Tours & Exhibitions

Tours and Exhibitions are two different ways of presenting the content in your guide. Generally, Tours are designed to guide your visitors on a curated path through your physical space, whereas Exhibitions can be experienced in any order. For more on each option, see Tours and Exhibitions.

Narrative

Tour

Structured & linear. A story unfolds one Item at a time as a visitor moves through the Tour.

Exhibition

Flexible. The Items can be experienced in any order without compromising the intended message.

Content Discovery

Tour

App-led. Tours guide visitors through your space, telling visitors which Item is next and how to get there.

Heavily reliant on the map.

Exhibition

Visitor-led "choose your own adventure." Visitors explore the collection in their preferred order, looking up Items that interest them.

The primary way for on-site visitors to find information is to look up items or exhibitions via lookup number or QR code.
