Early Release of New Accessibility Dashboard

The Bloomberg Connects team knows it’s critical that you have the tools you need to make your content available to all visitors.

As part of our commitment to being your partner on the journey towards greater accessibility, a new accessibility suggestions dashboard is available for you to try out in the CMS.

We’re making this dashboard available now, in its early stage, so you can start using it while we work on further enhancements. Share feedback about what you love, or what could be more useful, in the #feature-requests Slack channel.

Building out this dashboard is just one of our accessibility goals for this year. Stay tuned for app enhancements that enable us to meet the latest WCAG standards (v2.2), updates to our accessibility guidelines, and CMS-Rev.com integrations that make it even easier for you to create transcripts, subtitles, and captions.

For more on the new dashboard, see Accessibility Suggestions.

What's New in the CMS

  • You can now reliably run Usage reports for long time periods (e.g., since your guide's launch date).
  • When creating a new Exhibition, the default value for two fields has been updated. The default Items section header is now Highlights and the default Item layout is now List. Existing exhibitions are not changed.
  • When adding Items to a Tour, you can set the Item's location. Since locations are required for all Items that appear in Tours, this change makes it easier to see which Items are missing a location and add the location.
  • The grid on the Videos page now includes a column called CC/AD, which lets you see which videos have closed captions/subtitles or audio description tracks.
  • Small visual updates, form reorganization, and onscreen helper text improvements.
  • Now, if you paste text content into the CMS from a Microsoft® Word file with tracked changes and/or resolved comments, the comments and additional markings are automatically removed. This should make it easier to input changes suggested by your editors.

Bug Fixes in the CMS

  • Addressed reports that, in the Usage report, media play data could be inaccurate if a piece of media was playing when the user exited the guide. Now, all media plays are reported accurately.

What's New in the App

  • Improved stability of image-based maps (app version 3.43.0).
  • The audio indicator (headphones icon) now reliably appears in all locations in the app (app version 3.43.0).
  • Added support for the pipe character (|) in title and description text (app version 3.43.0).
  • More consistent prompting to encourage users to upgrade to the latest version of the app (app version 3.43.0).
  • Small visual improvements (app version 3.42.0).

Bug Fixes in the App

  • Addressed reports of app crashes when previewing a new Tour in Internal Mode, if the Tour didn’t have any Items or if some Items didn’t have a location. Now, you can successfully preview your Tours at any stage of creation, even if you haven’t yet added any Items or if some Items are missing a location (app version 3.42.2).
  • Addressed reports that tapping Back to return to the Explore screen sometimes resulted in launching unexpected screens (app version 3.42.0).
  • For Android users, improved the visual experience when zooming into an area with multiple map pins (app version 3.42.0).
  • Addressed reports that tapping on a Tour from the Related Content section of another object didn't launch the Tour. Now, launching a Tour from the Related Content section works as expected (app version 3.41.2).
  • Addressed reports of echoes in audio files (app version 3.41.1).
