Featured Update: New Images Automatically Fill the Display

Now, new images fill the dimensions of thumbnail images and hero displays by default, so you can spend less time manually cropping your images to remove the background or highlight key details.

If you prefer that new images fit inside the displays by default, update the new Image Display Default setting (on the About page of the CMS). This setting affects all new images added to your guide, but you can always adjust the display for individual images. Regardless of your default settings, your full-size image appears whenever a user taps the hero image at the top of a screen.

For more, see Images > Updating Display Defaults.

CMS Updates

  • In the data dashboard, you might notice an increase in guide usage from people accessing your content via a mobile web browser. This isn't necessarily because traffic to your guide has increased, but is because visitors who decline cookies are now counted. User data remains anonymous. For more, see The Effects of Regional Cookie Regulations on Analytics.
  • Captions that are automatically generated for images attached to Items now include only: Creator/Maker, Title in italics, Creation Date/Period/Era. You can still manually edit any image caption to include the most relevant information. For more, see Image Captions.
