Information security

Bloomberg and all partner organizations share the responsibility to keep important data on the Bloomberg Connects platform safe. For this reason, the platform provides robust security features to protect our data.

To keep everyone’s data safe, we use the following best practices:

One user, one password: We give each staff member at our partner organizations their own credentials to log in to the Bloomberg Connects CMS. Each account must belong to one person; don't share accounts between editors. This follows best practices in information security. We create more accounts when you ask for them, so don’t share your passwords.

If more than one staff member shares or knows a password, let us know as soon as possible. We can assign you a new password and create new accounts for your colleagues.

When a staff member leaves your organization, let us know immediately, so that we can turn off their account. We can also give access to another colleague, if needed.

Multi-factor authentication (MFA): Bloomberg enables multi-factor authentication (MFA) on all CMS logins. MFA gives us a second way to confirm a person’s identity, in addition to their username and password. We use an emailed code as this second method.

Note: If you get an MFA code by email when you aren’t trying to log in, we recommend that you reset your password. This helps keep your account secure.

Strong passwords: When you set or reset your password, choose a strong password that has a mix of different characters. This makes your password harder for automated malware to guess.
