Map Pins
You cannot attach a piece of content directly to a map. Instead, you must create a pin to represent the map location, then associate the content with that pin.
This is because several objects may be on display at the same location (e.g., on the same wall or in the same display case). For more on associating your map pins with content, see Map Visibility.
Adding Map Pins
You can add new pins to your exterior and/or floor maps to direct visitors to points of interest.
Before adding pins, add an exterior map and/or floor maps. For more, see Exterior Maps and Floor Maps.
Steps
In the Guide section, on the Map page, select the map to which you want to add the pin, then click Add Pin.
If you know which content is available at this location, select it from the list that appears, then click Apply.
Note: An Item can only be attached to one location pin at a time. Pins without associated content do not appear in your guide.
In the Location field, add a concise description of the location to help visitors know where to go (e.g., Gallery 3).
You can enclose the location name in square brackets to hide the name from the map (e.g., [Cafe]), but be aware that including a location name can help visitors find the content, especially visitors navigating via the list view.
- Click Save.
Drag the pin to the appropriate location on your map.
The pin is added to your map. For more on updating pin information, see Managing Map Pins.
Managing Map Pins
You can update your pins to efficiently direct visitors to objects in your space.
To update a content pin, click the pin, then click the three dots next to the pin name and make a selection:
- Edit Pin: Update the associated content and/or the name of the pin.
- Show Area: Expose the circular area indicator around the pin. This can be useful if you add an Exhibition to a content pin and want to indicate that the Exhibition takes up an entire gallery. You can also choose to hide the area if it has previously been exposed.
- Delete Pin: Delete the pin from the CMS and detach any associated content from the pin.
