Testing your QR codes

Test your Bloomberg Connects QR codes so you can feel confident that your signs and printed collateral send people to the right content.

Note: The URL associated with your QR code must be exactly the same as the URL generated by the CMS. The URLs should look like this: links.bloombergconnects.org/6Ggw/uq8ice8x. If your code redirects to a different domain (e.g., [company.com]/links.bloombergconnects.org...), it will not work.

Before launch

Before your guide launches, you can log in to the Connects app's internal mode to access your draft and confirm that your QR codes take you to the right content.

Steps:

  1. In the CMS, download your lookup QR codes and promotional QR code.
  2. In the app, log in to internal mode.
  3. Scan a QR code on the same device you used to log in to internal mode.
  4. Your content appears.

After launch

After your guide launches, your QR codes can only open published content in your guide. The codes can't open content that exists as a draft.

This can make it hard to verify that the lookup QR codes you printed to support an upcoming exhibition work as expected (before you place them on your gallery walls!).

As a workaround, you can briefly publish your draft content, test your QR codes, then unpublish the content until you're ready to expose it to the public.

Steps:

  1. In the CMS, download your lookup QR codes.

When you're ready to test the codes, publish your draft content.

Note: To reduce the risk that visitors stumble upon the content while you test the codes:

    • Don't add the content to your home screen
    • Don't attach the content to any map pins
    • Don't associate the content with any publicly available lookup numbers
    • Don't add the content to the Related section of any other content
    • Don't feature any content on your map
  2. On your mobile device, scan your QR codes. You do not need to log into the app's internal mode.
  3. Once you've verified that the QR codes take you to the right place, unpublish the new content. This completely prevents visitors from finding the content until you're ready.
  4. Continue revising your content and preparing your guide. For example, you might want to make the new content discoverable through one or more of the following ways:
  5. When you're ready to expose the content to visitors, publish it.
